The eMedia COVID-19 Relief Fund is a partnership with the HCI Foundation to help eradicate hunger for thousands of vulnerable communities in South Africa, by providing them with much-needed food relief during the current global COVID-19 pandemic and national lockdown.
HCI Foundation is the corporate social investment arm of Hosken Consolidated Investments, a black empowerment investment company that has its origins in the Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union.
Since 2007 the Foundation has developed relationships with underprivileged communities through its national Community Engagement and Bursary Programmes, that support organisations and individuals across the country.
The eMedia COVID-19 Relief Fund partnership launches live on eNCA on Wednesday, 15 April.
Viewers, the public, and businesses alike are encouraged to pledge towards the relief fund online or by calling 021 481 4599.
The HCI Foundation will be working with a network of dedicated NGOs to reach different parts of the country where there is a need. The Foundation knows these partner organisations well, all of which have reliable track records and are deeply committed to supporting the communities they work with.
To ensure the mass reach of the food parcels for families who are most in need as a result of the pandemic, the HCI Foundation will initially work with the Lunchbox Fund and its food distribution network.
The HCI Foundation has made an initial donation of R500,000 to kickstart this COVID-19 Relief Fund.
We strongly urge fellow South Africans who can contribute something, no matter how small, to join us in offering a lifeline to people whose lives are currently at risk due to hunger.
